Why Precincts Matter

County-level data hides as much as it reveals. A county that went 55-45 for one

candidate might contain precincts that went 90-10 in opposite directions. Precinct

data reveals the true geographic structure of American voting patterns — the

neighborhood-level divisions that aggregate into statewide outcomes.

163,926Precincts with full boundary geometry

Akashic Edge provides precinct-level results for 50 of 51 states (Alaska excluded

due to unavailable precinct geometry), with full polygon boundaries for every precinct.

This is the most comprehensive precinct dataset for the 2024 election available online.

Atlanta Metro: The Urban-Suburban Divide

Zoom into the Atlanta metro area and the precinct map reveals a sharp geographic

divide. Fulton County's inner-city precincts voted overwhelmingly Democratic, while

precincts just a few miles away in northern suburbs show competitive or Republican

margins.

DeKalb County precincts are nearly uniformly blue. Gwinnett County precincts show

a patchwork — reflecting the county's status as one of the fastest-diversifying

suburbs in the South.

The precinct-level view makes visible what county-level data cannot: the precise

geographic boundaries where political coalitions meet.

Maricopa County: A County of Contrasts

Maricopa County contains over 60% of Arizona's population, and its 743 precincts

tell a complex story. Central Phoenix precincts lean Democratic. East Valley

precincts in Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler trend Republican. Scottsdale is split.

West Phoenix and Glendale are competitive.

At the county level, Maricopa appears as a single data point. At the precinct level,

it's a battlefield with thousands of micro-elections happening simultaneously.

Milwaukee: Turnout at the Precinct Level

Wisconsin elections are decided by turnout in Milwaukee and its suburbs. The

precinct map reveals exactly where: inner-city Milwaukee precincts that delivered

massive Democratic margins in 2020 saw differential turnout patterns in 2024.

Meanwhile, Waukesha County precincts west of Milwaukee are among the most

uniformly Republican precincts in any swing state — a suburban Republican

firewall that has held through multiple election cycles.
