Moore is a rising national star with strong approval ratings and 2028 presidential buzz. The GOP can’t even field a serious candidate — the most prominent potential challengers declined to run, leaving a field with no statewide name ID. Larry Hogan’s two terms as a Republican governor were the exception that proves the rule in a state Biden won by 33 points. Moore’s anti-Trump positioning only strengthens him further in this environment. This is as safe as it gets.
