Scott is the most popular governor in America according to Morning Consult, with two-thirds approval including majorities of both Republicans and Democrats. His 2024 margin of victory was the largest in any Vermont gubernatorial election since 1946. He’s pro-choice, anti-Trump, and has publicly called Trump’s actions unconstitutional — which is exactly why Vermont’s D+17 electorate keeps voting for him. If he runs for a sixth term, he wins comfortably. If he retires, this flips to Safe D instantly. The entire race hinges on one man’s decision.
